SPEAKING IN PIDGIN

I was reading the Daily express forum section on Sunday when I come across a comments from one reader from Keningau which depicted Dusun prefer speaking bazaar Malay and seems Kadazan fare better in the use of their mother tongue.

What prompted me to share my observation was about the case mentioned by the writer regarding local leader when interviewed by radio stations. I fully supported the writer for highlighting it as I’ve heard so many times of local leaders whether they are village chief or our assemblymen responding in mixed pidgin. I thought I was listening to a bahasa Malaysia section of the radio station as most of the response by the person interviewed was in pidgin.


‘ Osong mari sini tuntuvad sia lap kau’ which mean to clean the child after passing motion. That was some of the funny phrase we shared with friends regarding the improper use of the language in everyday spoken language by the village folks.

Improper use of our mother tongue may gradually erode our depleting vocabulary in a very short time due to us substituting words with a foreign language. We must collectively guard and used our local dialect for the betterment of our race and for future children.

Let us speak our mother tongue everyday.

A GOOD START FOR EARTH HOUR

Last night a number of people who cares for the global warming made the maiden Earth Hour and joined millions worldwide.

Exactly at 8.30 pm I switched off the lights at home and when I looked outside saw few others switched off their lights also. It shows that not all did not switched off their lights Malaysians are aware of what global warming is all about and showed Malaysians were also very concerned about environment issues.

In Sabah for that matter, there were others who were not sure if the lights were deliberately put out or if it was a blackout, considering Sabah is famous of blackouts. It was made worst when the president of WWF Sabah although supporting fully about the campaign but at the same time reminded everybody about the constant blackout that we faced. Every time I asked my friends about the campaign they quote the press comments from the WWF president.

It was also the same thing when I suggested about the campaign at a blogger’s chat box but luckily the blogger’s owner reminded chatters that it was not an obligation but a choice and everybody chilled down.

Saturday at sunset mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral and met my cousin.

Me: Tonight you participate Earth Hour campaign.

Cousin: Depends if there is someone who switch off their light first.

Me: Just switch off your light and people will follow.

Cousin: See first.

Since it was a maiden Earth Hour in Malaysia some might still undecided about the campaign and worsens by the unfavourable and constant blackout here in Sabah, I am sure next year it will be successful.

AMERICAN IDOL - MICHEAL SARVER ELIMINATED

Micheal Sarver the rigger was eliminated from American idol. He received the lowest votes from the audience. Amongst the bottom three were Scott MacInture, Matt Giraud and Micheal. It was lucky for Megan Joy as voters still votes for her amidst the unfavourable comments from the judges and which I predicted to be amongst the bottom idols after her lackluster performance.


It will be be a very tough weeks ahead for the idols and whoever perform below par during the next performance will be eliminated.

AMERICAN IDOL REVIEW

Last night American Idol performance saw good and not so good performances by the Idols.There were mixed and anonymous decisions by the judges based on the idols performance.

After nearly predicting correctly the idol leaving last week, I still will predict Micheal Sarver as one of the potential to leave Americal Idol tonight result. As one of the bottom three last week and his performance no better than the other contestants, I will be not surprise that he will leave tonight.


Megan Joy will find herself in the bottom three after unfavourable comments from the judges. I think she’s going to have a hard time and as a wild card idol will have to perform well to convince audience to vote for you but she’s against stronger competitors. If she can get new votes from the audience then she will stay.

After last week comments from the jugdes to step out from behind the key, Scott MacIntyre still prefer to performed behind it as he think that he’s more confortable on it. Although his performance just fine as commented by Simon Cowell he’ll stay but a bit of trouble.
Another idol who received not so good comments from the judges was Lil Rounds but I think she will stay.

All the other idols did performed well last night and it would be very suprising if they ended in the bottom three later today for the result.

In the local scene, OIAM will see performances from the contestants tonight. Will Esther will win another immunity to stay another week after her stunning performance last week? Looking forward for a very entertaining weekend and to remind you to switch off your lights for the EARTH HOUR on Saturday night from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM.

PERLU KAH SMS UNTUK SIARAN KADAZAN DI RTM

Seperti biasa pagi-pagi sudah buka radio Kadazan pada jam 5.00 pagi sambil menanti alarm hp (set suara Apek berteriak pasal sms untuk dijawap – set untuk alarm). Kalau Dj Kadazan yang sia tidak brapa minat selalunya sia akan pindah terus ke Siran SuriaKK dengar kelegat dj yang kadang-kadang lawaklah juga. Malas bah mau dengar itu sms yang dihantar oleh pendengar yang sama setiap hari di radio Kadazan di RTM itu. Asyik-asyik si Polan punya nama yang keluar. Bagus juga bah dorang kasih sokong itu siaran Kadazan tapi talampau bah. Adakah kalu ada sundait, balik-balik bah si Polan panggil jawap itu sundait walaupun balik balik silap dia punya jawapan … bikin panas.

Saya kesian juga dengan dj sebab terpaksa melayan si Polan walaupun kadang-kadang agak bosan juga mangkali dorang itu melayan si polan itu. Apa boleh buat kerja kan jadi layan saja walaupun kadang-kadang dj mau saja cepatkan perbualan itu.

Adakah kalu ada permintaan lagu dan pendengar panggil dan keudara maka si Polan- si Polan ini akan menujukan lagu permintaan mereka itu diantara mereka sendiri (Si Polan-si Polan). Kalau sikit mereka tujukan lagu itu okay juga tapi ini macam satu kampung bah dorang sebut nama.

Sepatutnya pendengar bijak berfikiran supaya sesuatu program itu berjaya dan tidak menjadi kebencian kepada pendengar yang lain kerana perbuatan segelintir pendengar yang tidak bertanggungjawap. Kalau meminati dan menyokong sesuatu siaran itu tidak bererti kita mopoli kesemua program yang dikendalikan oleh stesen radio tersebut. Pandai pandailah kita sesuaikan diri supaya program dan siaran tersebut menjadi kesukaan kepada semua pendengar dan bukan stesen kebencian.

ALL EYES ON BUKIT GANTANG, PERAK BY-ELECTION

Once again our attention will be focus on the Perak parliamentary by-election where another two state seat simultaneously being held at the same time. What makes the Bukit Gantang parliamentary by election more interesting compared to the two state by-elections is the candidancy of the previous Pakatan Chief Minister, whether he commands the majority when pakatan rule the state will be known after the voting process. The election would be very important both to the present and former government of Perak.

Former Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin will be PAS' candidate for the Bukit Gantang parliamentary by-election, polling of which will be held on April 7. PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang made the announcement during a PAS rally at Taman Kota Jaya in Simpang here tonight.



The Barisan Nasional (BN) has named Bukit Gantang Umno information chief Ismail Saffian, 49, as its candidate for the seat. Nomination is on Sunday. The by election is due to the death of its MP from PAS.

PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has given his blessing for former Perak menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin to contest in the April 7 Bukit Gantang by-election.
Nik Aziz who is Kelantan Menteri Besar said last month that he could not agree to the suggestion that Nizar be fielded in the Bukit Gantang by-election since the Pas and its opposition allies still regarded Nizar as Perak Menteri Besar.

MANHOOD CHOPPED OFF

He was told to forget his ex girlfriend several times but he was persistent with his illicit affair and was caught in the act with his ex girlfriend at the couple bedroom. After a quarrel, the wife decided to settle her vengeance by trying to slice her husband private part with a sharp blade. He suffered minor injuries after villagers rushed him to hospital where doctors managed to save him from any worse trauma.

The wife must be really devastated by the husband action after admonishing him many times and took action by slicing his manhood. Time will tell whether he will not do it ever again.

In a related case also in India, a very furious wife chop off completely her husband manhood in two pieces after discovering her husband was having sexual relations with other women. It was a well-planned revenge with the wife sedating the food during dinner.

Wife: Darling dear I really want you tonight.

Husband: Erm … after cooking me a very delicious food … what are you after dear.

Husband: Rascal lady, you must have been browsing the internet … whatever … tie me lah ..

CHEAPEST CAR IN THE WORLD

India’s Tata Motors will launch its extra cheap 3 meters long Nano car in Mumbai on Monday, selling for 100,000 rupees or RM7268.64.

The four-door five seater car has a 33bhp, 624cc engine at the rear. It has no airbags, air conditioning, power steering and radio.




If Malaysia imports the cheapest car many will buy it as a second car but the climate here would deter potential buyers to buy it as there was no air condition installed to the car. Otherwise people buy it for their collection of cars. If it is installed with air-con I will not hesitate to buy it for my second car.

ONCE UPON A TIME

After watching the picture my friend emailed me, memories flash back regarding the semi-nude of the ladies where there was this ‘Aunty’ who preferred to bare her breast. You will see her without a shirt most of the time just as in the pictures. She’s popularly known as ‘Bo Derrick’ by the youth in my place just for fun.



In some remote village it is normal to see poultry roaming around the village, as they are only locked during nighttime. The meat of poultry reared in the village are much better compared to the meat reared for commercial.

As can be seen on the picture, they looked so innocent as it was normal for them to have their picture taken. Time goes by and what we see in the pictures was purely not for sex but to reflex how things were during the time of black and white.

EARTH HOUR

I was on my way to work when Dj Othoe read a sms from his listener regarding Earth Hour and the Dj mentioned of switching off all the power supply of the Suria KK fm this coming Saturday. What I thought about the Earth hour was something about earthing which will occur and we have to switched off all electrical appliances so that it would not be damaged. It was later when I read in the newspaper and browse through the internet that I knew about it.



Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. It was pioneered by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, and achieved worldwide participation in 2008.

Earth Hour will next take place on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8:30 pm, local time.
To observe this global environmental awareness event everyone should at least turn off the lights and other energy-saving measures for one full hour. It would not be a burden to switch off all electrical appliances for a full hour.

Let us send a powerful global message about environmental awareness and caring for the planet.

AMERICAN IDOL – MICHEAL SARVER WILL BE BOOTED OUT

After watching American idol just now, I predict idol Micheal Sarver will get the lowest votes from the American audience and will be booted out. Adam Lambert, one of the favourite performed below his actual talent and did received unfavourable comments from the judges especially Simon Cowe. Another contestant who received not so good comments was Lil Rounds but she will move to the next round.

Scott McIntyre was commented of being in the comfort zone most of the time and he should select his song which will stretch his vocal to the maximum. I predict that he and Lil rounds will be in the bottom three.

Anoop Desai did perform very much better and he will be safe from being booted from the show. Performance from the other idols was indeed very good and it would be surprising if they get the lowest votes.

There was a rumour that the top four were already fix with two guys and two girls will be in the final. Is American idol fixed?

STRANGE SIGNBOARD

If you are traveling to and fro to Penampang everyday you must have noticed the signboard with ‘TULIS KERETA’ placed on the road divider near the traffic light at Kobusak junction and the other one at Towering area. If translated to English it is like ‘WRITE VEHICLE’. I was wondering what the advertiser meant about it but I guess you will know if you try and call the number given.



I think the advertiser is a smart person, as he knows that people will be asking what it meant and apart from free advertisement, bloggers will also help it out to post in their blogs. So guys if you want to know the meaning of it, just call the advertiser.

Here’s another example of a very confusing signboard and looking at the picture will give a negative meaning but not at all of what we thought.

LOVE BETWEEN FOOTBALL AND BADMINTON

It was a weekend with mixed drama as long as I am concern regarding my favourite games football and Badminton with entertainment popular TV shows starting with its first concert.



I was devastated when my favourite team Manchester United was trashed by Liverpool 4 goals to 1 at Old Trafford. Was it because of Wayne Rooney front page news of hating Liverpool did the damage as I believed Liverpool players played their gut out after Rooney’s comment. Manchester is still leading the EPL with 4 points a game less the other teams. If they can sustain their games and keep on winning these two months they will be the league champions again.

In Badminton, Lee Chong Wei avenged his all England defeat to Lin Dan by turning the tables on the Chinese player to win the Swiss Open Super series final last night. After watching the game, I thought he would loose to Lin Dan again but as the game moved on Chong Wei get his rhythm going with some fantastic drop shot from him.

It was a double celebration when Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong defeated Denmark double in straight set. They lost to the same pair during the all England open recently. It was Malaysian double win in badminton for quite sometime and hope many win will come handy this year of the Ox.

AKADEMI FANTASIA 7 OR MANCHESTER UNITED VS LIVERPOOL

Tonight there are two important shows on TV and although not a great fan of AF this year but curious enough to watch it as there was a tremendous publicity about a transformation they will introduce this season. I watched the daily AF few times but up to now seen nothing noticeable about the transformation that attracted my attention so far.



It will be a very explosive game tonight between Manchester United entertaining Liverpool at Old Trafford after Wayne Rooney says he hate Liverpool and Sir Alex Ferguson sprung to the defense of him.

Manchester United can wrap up a third consecutive English Premier League title by beating Liverpool. Victory means a ten points clear of both Liverpool and Chelsea. They still have ten remaining fixtures and if they can consistently remain unbeaten will wrap up the title in their favour.

I will be juggling with my remote control tonight between the EPL and Akademi Fantasia as the show almost starts at the same time. If I decided to watch EPL then have to watch recorded AF.

I am diehard supporter of Manchester United. MU will win you’ll see.

ONE IN A MILLION – WHO WILL BE ELIMINATED?

Siapa akan mendapat undi paling rendah akan tinggalkan One In a Million musim ketiga malam ini. Ada beberapa peserta ada kemungkinan akan disingkirkan malam ini kalau undi mereka tidak berubah sampai pesembahan malam ini.


Kalau dilihat senarai undian terkini maka peserta yang bakal meninggalkan OIAM musim ketiga ini adalah Anith kerana mendapat undian tercorot sekali. Tapi ada beberapa peserta yang pernah dikedudukan terbawah seperti Pija dan Emillia dan kemungkinan Nine dan juga Fify. Peserta pelihan saya yang bakal disingkirkan ada Anith.

Pengundi sekarang ini bijak dalam pemilihan peserta dan trend ini kalau berterusan maka peserta yang pernah mengikuti pertandingan reality sebelum menyertai OIAM akan disingkirkan lebih awal. Ini disebabkan pengundi telah menilai pesembahan peserta ini dahulu dan mereka akan menilai peserta yang baru pula.

Peserta yang mendapat undi terbanyak setakat ini adalah Esther, Tomok dan Aweera dan beberapa peserta yang belum pernah sertai apa-apa pertandingan.

Kita tunggu dan lihat siapa akan meninggalkan OIAm malam ini.

AMERICAN IDOL JUDGES 'SAVE' POWER

American idol judges will be able to override one elimination up to the top 5, meaning that any contestant getting the lowest votes-getters if they feel that they are still good does not have to be eliminated.

My prediction of Jasmine Murray leaving was correct but got it wrong when Jorge Nunez was also eliminated. I think the American audience still wants to give another chance to Anoop, which perform badly yesterday. I hope he can redeem himself by performing a better performance during the next elimination round.

The surprise announcement of the judges overriding the audience choices in my opinion is to save deserving and talented singers who select wrong song during the elimination show.

Let us wait and see when the judges use their ‘save’ power.

YOUR NUDE PICTURES IN YOUR HANDPHONE?

A survey was conducted about handphone owners who sent their handphone to a handphone customer service centre. It is quite common to come across nude or semi-nude pictures of the owner or their loved ones. According to a repair service centre that they receive two or three handphones a month, which contain private pictures.

Sometimes the owner forgets to delete their private pictures and it is the repair shop initiative to inform the owner to remove the pictures before they could proceed with the repairing. If there is something wrong with the screen or the handphone cannot be switched on, then nothing can be done to delete the private pictures.

So beware handphone owners to delete your private pictures before sending it to the repair shop to avoid any untoward incidences where such materials could later be used for blackmail or defamation against you.

Just imagine if only 5% of the handphone owner has nude pictures saved in the handphone and what percentage would likely be those who dare not to save it on their handphone?

AMERICAN IDOL ELIMINATION

After watching the 13 finalist of the American Idol performing, I decided to pick three finalists who in my opinion will be eliminated. Two finalists will be eliminated after the votes tally counted tomorrow and will leave American Idol.

My pick who will be eliminated are Anoop, Jasmine or Megan. I based my prediction due to their performance especially Anoop. All three also failed from getting votes from the audience but manage to get to the final rounds due to the selection from the judges. I was a great fan of Anoop during the audition round and predicted him to win the wild card after he failed to get votes. As for Jasmine, I think she needs more exposure as she is still young and as time goes by she will be a good performer.

The best performance was by Adam Lambert as he sang very well with his high tone and he sang Micheal Jackson song perfectly. He will be my early favourite to win American idol if he consistently perform very well in every show.

Let us wait and see whether my prediction this time is correct. Pick your finalist who will leave American Idol this very early round.

INCREASED PAYMENT FOR LOCAL ARTISTS AND MUSICIAN

Good news to all singers and entertainers who are invited to perform in government events and functions particularly the Sabah Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment. The payment for local artist would be increased with each performer to be paid a minimum of RM2000 for performing at any of the events organized by the department.



Sabah produced a good number of talented entertainers and singers through singing competition and some of them are even better than many well known and even highly paid artist from peninsular or even overseas. It would not be surprising to see parents encouraging their children to learn music whether for self-entertainment or for their future career. With the increased payment by the ministry of Tourism Sabah, local artists should take the opportunity as a challenge to further improve their skills and performances.

The ministry can only assist that much and it is up to the artists to prove themselves and take the local music scene to the highest level as proven by few singers like Stacy, Ayu, Adam and few others who have elevated themselves through a popular TV competition.

I thought that I would be writing about the American idol reviews just once but once I started and the hits to my blog was overwhelming, followed by reviews on OIAM and the latest the Akademi Fantasia. The AF is still the main attraction to Malaysian viewers as when I posted my reviews, the number of hits triple as compared before. So bear with me, as I will be still posting reviews on OIAM, American Idol and AF until the shows ended.

PENGETUA AF7 – TIARA JAQUELINA

Sekali lagi saya menonton Tirai AF7 semalam kerana ingin tahu juga siapa Pengetua AF musim ketujuh ini. Pada awal siaran, ada pulak Mawi world dan saya fikir mungkin dia jadi Pengetua tapi lama juga Astro umumkan pengetua tersebut, hingga saat akhir baru dikeluarkan pengetua baru tersebut.

Mula-mula gambar seorang wanita sedang masuk dengan kasut tumit tinggi dan saya ingatkan Anita Sarawak tapi rupa-rupanya TIARA JAQUELINA Puteri Gunung Ledang. Dia adalah seorang pelakon, pengiat theatre dan penyanyi dan seorang yang berpengalaman mengikut biography yang disampaikan oleh Guru Fatimah dalam Dairy AF7.

Apabila sudah mengetahui Pengetua tersebut ingat nak tukar Channel lain tapi apabila beliau buat visinya melalui presentation minat mahu dengar apa yang beliau terangkan kembali untuk menonton. Antara yang beliau mahu adalah transformasi yang luarbiasa kepada pelajar dan mahu AF7 sebagai yang terbilang dari AF sebelum ini.

Pendek kata ‘TO GO FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE’.

Memandangkan semangkat yang diberikan oleh pengetua maka pelajar telah menyahut cabaran tersebut dan akan hadapi transformasi yang bakal mereka hadapi.

Peserta dikalangan KadazanDusun gagal terpilih pada tahun ini. Semenjak AF2 sampailah ke AF6, peserta dari bangsa ini sentiasa diwakili. Adakah setelah kemenangan Stacy jadi juara AF6 maka tiada lagi peserta yang lebih baik darinya.

Antara peserta yang gagal terpilih dari Sabah ialah Lizda dari Tawau dan Faezah dari Keningau. Peserta dari Kadazandusun ialah Abraham atau AB dan Cabrini atau Cabby. Ini bermakna 4 peserta dari Sabah Gagal terpilih.

Mungkin pada AF7 tahun ini pengundi dari Sabah akan jatuh mendadak terutama daripada kalangan pengundi KadazanDusun. Nampak gaya ramai yang pencen untuk mengundi tahun ini.
